This biking or Jeep safari expedition is for those nature or cultural lovers who have a short span of time to refresh or rejuvenate themselves in the lap of nature. In this tour, the visitor will discover the hidden geographical, rural treasure and unknown valleys in the Shimla Hills and Kinnaur. This tour starts from Shimla the former summer capital of British Empire in India then heads into inner Shimla (Narkanda, apple valleys, Hatkoti Temple, Pabbar Valley, the jewel of Shimla hill Chanshal Peak at a height of (4200 mts) and Kinnaur Valley.
Day 01: Arrival Chandigarh/ Kalka – Shimla (120 Kms 4-5 hrs.)
Take an early train from Delhi to Chandigarh/ Kalka. From Kalka you’ll catch the famous ‘toy’ train, marvel of engineering, a narrow gauge railway built at the turn of the 20th Century and recognized by UNESCO as one of India’s great mountain railways. Marvel at the spectacular views over the foothills of the Himalayas as you ascend to majestic Shimla. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: Shimla- Kufri- Narkanda (65 kms 2-3 hrs)
In the morning after having breakfast we will discover the British Himalayan Town (Shimla)Which displays some of Shimla’s finest colonial structure (Christ Church, Gaiety Theatre, Town Hall, Railway Building, Gorton Castle and Vice regal Lodge). Post lunch drive to Kufri a tiny hill station located near Shimla. It is famous for trekking, skiing and hiking trails. After visiting Kufri we drive to Narkandasituated at a height of 2708 meters on the Hindustan Tibet road. This place is an ideal retreat for the tourists who seek seclusion in mountains. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 03: Narkanda- Baghi- Kharapathar (70 kms 4-5 hrs)
This morning we have glimpses of Narkanda which offers a spectacular view of snow ranges of the outer Himalayas. Afterwards We Hike or drive to the Hatu Temple at the Peak, apple orchards valleys and a very beautiful Tanu Jubbar lake surrounded by whispering cedar trees and bifurcating from here takes you to the Himachal’s Horticultural heartland, Kotgarh and Thanedhar, renown for apple orchards. Post lunch we drive to Kharapathar a small but beautiful hemlet. Enroute we visit Baghi and Tikkar famous for apple orchard and beautiful dense forest valleys. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04: Kharapathar- Jubbal- Hatkoti- Rohru
This morning after breakfast we drive or hike to Giri Ganga which is surrounded by dense forest of pine and tall cedar trees. It offers spectacular view of snow ranges, beautiful valleys and apple orchard. It is a paradise for photographer or nature lover. Post lunch we visit to Jubbal Palace (the former Residence of King of Jubbal State) which offer rich history and legacy of the state. Later at evening we visit one of the beautiful Durga Mata temples situated on the bank of River Pabbar at (Hatkoti) built by Pandvas during their long twelve years exile. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 05: Rohru- Chirgaon- Chanshal- Rohru (100 kms 5-6 hrs.)
Today post breakfast we will drive to Chanshal Peak (Situated at an altitude of 4200 meters) which offers spectacular view of the snowcapped mountain ranges of Himalayas.If a landscape had the powers of casting spells, then the Pabbar valley & Chanshal Peak would be a magician extraordinary once seen, can never be forgotten. The journey from Rohru to Chanshal is dotted with myriad features of nature and culture. Enroute discover the Pabbar river valley which is famous for Trout angling, apple orchard and beautiful terraced paddy fields.After discovering the Chanshal peak and local rural culture drive back to Rohru for overnight stay.
Day 06: Rohru- Rampur- Sarahan (120 kms 5-6 hrs.)
Early morning after breakfast we drive to Sarahan, the gateway to kinnaur through the Green Valleys of Himalaya’s. Enroute visit Sun Temple at Nirth and Padam Palace in Rampur. Continue drive along the Satluj River and from Jeori climb upto Sarahan. On arrival check into hotel. Evening discover the Sarahan, a beautiful village surrounded by apple orchards and dominated by Shrikhand Mahadev Peak (5155 M/ 16,912 feet) which resembles the “Shivling.” We visit the Bhimakali Temple, a wonderful mixture of Buddhist and Hindu architecture. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 7 Sarahan to Sangla: (113Kms / 8Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Sangla through the beautiful villages and valleys surrounded by apple orchard, alongside the River Sutlej or Baspa River arrive at noon and check in to Luxury Camp or Hotel. Enjoy the evening in beautiful surroundings in the river valley of Baspa at a height of 9000ftwhich is surrounded by forested slopes and offers views of the high mountains, apple orchards, apricot, Wall-nut, Cedar trees, and glacial streams with trout. Besides the natural beauty of Great Himalayas Kamru Fort, Mata Devi Temple & Bearing Nag Temples are the main attractions of the Valley. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 8 Sangla- Chitkul- Sangla (Day Excursion) (20 KM/ 1.5 Hrs)
If a landscape had the powers of casting spells, then the Sangla valley or Chitkul would be a magician extraordinary once seen, can never be forgotten. These are the places that are not to be missed on this trail. Chitkul (3450 m) is the last village of the valley and beyond lays Tibet and the valley of river Baspa keeps amazing landscape with its temple of the village at the backdrop. After Breakfast, explore the vicinity around including an ancient Kamru Fort and Temple dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya Devi which was brought from Assam and Nages God. Post Lunch, excursion to Chitkul – a last Village on Old Indo – Tibetan Trade Route. Walk through green orchards and brilliant stream. Return back to Sangla for Dinner and Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 9 Sangla – Kalpa (49 KM/2 Hrs)
After Breakfast, check-out from the Hotel and drive to Kalpa – District Headquarter of Kinnar. Arrive Kalpa and Check-in to your Hotel. Each and every corner of Kalpa facing Jorkanden and the Kinner Kailash Peaks, considered as one of the mythical homes of Lord Shiva and by its side is a 79 foot rock formation that resembles a Shivlinga that changes the colour as the day passes and is visible to the naked eye on a clear day These are spectacular sights early in the morning as the rising sun touches the snowy peaks with crimson and golden light.. Evening visit to Buddhist Gompa. Dinner and Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10 Kalpa
Early morning enjoy the Sunrise over Kinner Kailash Peaks. After breakfast Kalpa is famous for its Apples and Chilgoza Plantations [a kind of Dry Fruits], which are found only in Iran and Turkey besides here. Visit to local School and Narayan Nagini Temple Complex, which has Shrines of Hindu, Buddhist and local Deities. In the evening excursion trip to Roghi Village to explore the ‘Pahari’ Life. Return back to Kalpa. Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 11 Kalpa – Nako
In the morning after breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Nako. It is a tiny hemlet tucked away in kinnaur, on the border with Tibet; Nako is a little known surprise. Home to the mystical holy lake that looks most resplendent early in the morning, Nako is delighting as you discover it layer by layer. Still steeped in the medieval aura, it is rich in tradition and it shows in the calmness that engulfs you as soon as you enter the place. Step into paradise and feel blissfully alive by being one with nature as it frames a man- made display.
It was once a very important center of Buddhism in the region. There are different small sized temples belonging to different periods between the 11th and 12th centuries distributed all over the village, including a monastic complex on its western edge. It houses to the footprints of saints Padmasambhavas; and rightly earned the title of ‘Gateway to Buddhist Pilgrimage’ Overnight stay at Nako.
Day 12: Nako-Kalpa
Get up to a glossy morning and enjoy morning breakfast at hotel. Check Out from the hotel and enjoy the nature view and the local culture and tradition. Later drive to kalpa for overnight stay.
Day 13: Kalpa- Shimla
In the morning after breakfast drive to Shimla for your onward journey.
